Floyd Mayweather Jr. is all about the money. Even in his role as a promoter now, Mayweather loves to talk dollars and cents. So it should come as no surprise that “Money” named his price for a boxing match against Conor McGregor.

“We tried to make the Conor McGregor fight,” Mayweather said on ESPN. “They know what my number is. My number was a guaranteed $100 million. That was my number. We’re the A-side. I don’t know how much money Conor McGregor has made. I’m pretty sure he hasn’t even made $10 million in an MMA bout. We were willing to give him $15 million and then we could talk about splitting the percentage, the back end percentage on pay-per-view.

“The only thing that I’m probably interested in is probably the Conor McGregor fight. I’m a business man, and it makes more business sense.”

McGregor and Mayweather have feuded publicly over this potential bout for the better part of a year. McGregor even took it one step further last November when he acquired a boxing license in California. He then said he wants $100 million to fight Mayweather in a boxing match.

“He wants it under boxing rules. He wants a boxing match. He doesn’t want a fight,” McGregor told the crowd at a club appearance, per TMZ Sports. “Tell Floyd and Showtime, I’m coming. Tell him to go to them Showtime offices. I want $100 million cash to fight you under boxing rules cause he’s afraid of a real fight.”

McGregor has been breaking records across MMA with his pay-per-view bouts, earning a record $3 million disclosed purse for his rematch with Nate Diaz at UFC 202 (Diaz made a decent $2 million for his efforts).

However, as Mayweather noted, “Money” earned over $100 million for his PPV clash with Manny Pacquiao in 2015.

“If you made $5 million, I’m willing to give you $10 million,” Mayweather said of McGregor. “If you made $10 million, I’m willing to give you $20 million. And within my career, I made $800 million. I can’t speak on what he’s getting paid, because when it’s all said and done, Conor McGregor has to answer to somebody. He has a boss. Floyd Mayweather don’t have a boss.”

As both sides continue to work this out, we can only hope that it reaches a resolution rather quickly and doesn’t drag out like the Mayweather-Pacquiao talks did. Mayweather might not be able to fight in another three years if this keeps up.
